Free your Spirit Drum and Dance Journey
A two-part transformational journey with drums and dance. The journey begins with a Drum Circle, which will be facilitated by Marilena Constantinou, who will guide a group of people playing hand drums (Djembe) and percussion inside a circle formation.
The music they create is not always rehearsed but rather playing “in the moment ” as a percussion ensemble. They empower each other in a non-judgmental space, celebrating community and life through rhythm and music.
The second part of the event which will follow on directly after is Journey Dance facilitated by Demetris Makariou and Marilena, a transformational conscious dance form that combines freestyle and guided healing movements to inspire you to get out of your mind and into your Body with music created especially for the Event and conveyed via a live DJ set by Demetris A. Makariou.
The Facilitators
Marilena Constantinou
A professional dancer and coach for more than 25 years, having studied at the Northern Ballet School and passed her students teaching diploma at The Royal Academy of Dance in Manchester UK she went on to perform at the world famous Moulin Rouge (with choreographer Billy Goodson) and the Lido de Paris. At the same time Marilena was involved with and made numerous TV shows and a Documentary while in France and Italy followed by dates and performances in Greece working alongside such artists as Despina Vandi, Elena Paparizou, Mazonakis, Rouvas, Eurovision 2006, Mad Tv Awards, Arion Awards to name but a few.
Now Marilena has earned diplomas in Pilates Coach Training Diploma-Nia Technique.
And now heads and facilitates The Free your Spirit Drum & Dance Gatherings
Holding regular drum circles around the island at various festivals, Creating group activities of creative movement for primary schools and drum therapy for senior citizens.
Now she is consolidating her passion of Dance, Djembe and Nia technique to a wider audience.
Demetris A. Makariou
Demetris A. Makariou is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, an NLP & Mindfulness Coach , a Massage Therapist and a Restorative Yoga Teacher.
In his sessions he incorporates alternative therapeutic techinques from all the fields of his expertise that guide his clients to deep states of healing, relaxation and rejuvenation.
Demetris is also a former Film-maker, sound engineerer and graphic designer and he is now the Art Director of the Art Studio 55. He has been curating art exhibitions since 2007 alongside his academic studies, and since 2018 he’s taken Art Studio 55 under his management as Art Director and Art Curator, organizing events, exhibitions, workshops and classes.
